bd's Mongolian Grill Now Trans Fat Free
Strong vendor support accelerates transition

Ferndale, MI (June 27, 2007) - bd's Mongolian Grill today announced that every menu item on its menu is now trans fat free. While most of the items at bd's have always been trans fat free, the decision to make this change throughout the entire menu was made to stay ahead of the dining trends of bd's customers and their growing interest in more healthful menu options.

"Trans fats are neither required nor beneficial for health and we're proud to be one of the few multi-unit chains in the United States to offer our entire menu - including desserts - to be trans fat free," said Billy Downs, owner and founder of bd's Mongolian Grill. "This move reinforces our commitment to health and wellness while positioning bd's as an industry leader."

The vision and desire was met with full support of the bd's team, partners, vendors and food distributors. Because of the cooperative effort, the goal of becoming a trans fat free establishment was reached in less than seven months.

"We completed a full analysis of every item served in our restaurants, identifying the products that needed to be reformulated or removed from our menu" explained Deb Fratrik, bd's Chief Operating Officer. "The support we received from our vendors exceeded our expectations. We are convinced that we now offer a superior product."

Vendors such as Brothers Desserts, Love and Quiches, Rich Products, Todd's and Stockpot were valuable resources during the transition. The efforts put forth by all vendors ensured that the quality and flavor of every menu item was not compromised.

In addition to evolving into a trans fat free restaurant, bd's has created a fun and interactive way for guests to know exactly what they're eating at the restaurant - an online Create A Bowl program with a Nutritional Calculator.

Launched earlier this year on bd's website, GoMongo.com, the program allows users to build a virtual bowl of stir-fry by choosing from bd's wide assortment of meats, fresh vegetables and sauces. While building the bowl, a nutritional calculator automatically shows the total values of calories, protein, carbohydrates, dietary fiber, fat and saturated fat.

"Our guests are increasingly more focused on healthier eating habits and lifestyles," stated Downs. "Whether you are on a special diet, training for a marathon or just want to watch what you're eating, this online Nutritional Calculator can be a valuable tool in achieving your specific goals."

The nutritional values of the meats and vegetables are based upon one serving or what is referred to as a "tong" of food at bd's - 3 oz. for meats and approximately 1 oz. for most vegetables. Additional portions of meats and vegetables can be added to the bowl at the guest's discretion. Sauces are portioned in 1 oz. servings with a recommended portion size of 2-3 oz. per bowl of stir-fry.

Upon visiting the bd's Mongolian Grill Web site, guests can immediately begin to create a new bowl of stir-fry and then save their creation by establishing a free online account. This account will save up to 10 finished bowls and make them accessible to the user at any given time.
